2 NEW REPORTS! TIMSS 1995-2023: Zone Proxima Charts investigate grade 4 math preparedness (on track for college- & career-readiness) across the globe.
Zone Proxima's charts of 1995-2023 Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study grade four mathematics proficiency reports percentages of testees above and below proficiency by testing year within each participating jurisdiction. This chart provides visual and efficient comparison of Brazil's achievement to that of the average proficiency across participating jurisdictions, proficiency in the United States, and within Singapore (highest achieving).

Zone Proxima released its second use case report. This report utilizes the company's 1995-2023 TIMSS Charts to investigate claims that Brazil's education policies have produced an exemplary system where "the brightest futures are being shaped" (Saparov, 2025). The use case demonstrates how the Charts provide a quick and accessible "go to" source for investigating claims of mathematics achievement for countries and smaller jurisdictions that participated in the Trends in Math and Science Studies (TIMSS) from 1995-2023. The Charts focus on grade four results. The report validates conclusions drawn from the TIMSS data with those of Brazil's own mathematics assessment and Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) results from 2002 through 2022. Brazil's proficiency is contrasted with that of the United States, Singapore, and averages across participating countries. An international aspiration toward educational systems that prepare youth for college- and career-readiness is defined and applied to the results. A review of the literature, including United States and international policies, supports the key role played by effective early childhood mathematics education. This is guided discovery incorporating appropriate manipulatives. Zone Proxima launched a research initiative applying Metaphorics to identify and evaluate effective pedagogy and materials. Adults mentored through the resulting program are trained to engage young children in the joy of mathematics discovery while they apply fundamental mathematics. Gattegno curriculum and Cuisenaire Rods are core to Zone Proxima Math.
