Gathering 4 Gardner (G4G) Celebration added to its public collection the presentation ROOT(Math Success) = Childhood + Concrete Analog + Challenges, by Zone Proxima CEO Debbie Denise Reese, PhD. During the February 25, 2024 talk, Reese stressed the need for effective early childhood mathematics preparation. Through analyses of student achievement in the USA and globally, she revealed the alarming percentage of students across elementary and secondary schooling who lack mathematics proficiency and readiness for college/career. Reese shared the Zone Proxima Math solution. She featured video evidence from a child-mother dyad's sessions, as mentored by Zone Proxima Math. Reese annotated the child's Aha! learning moments. Reese challenged the audience to join Zone Proxima's effort, to "make a difference in the life of a child, the children of a community, or a nation."
The event was Gathering 4 Gardner's 15th conference (G4G15) in Atlanta, Georgia. Gathering 4 Gardner (G4G) describes itself as "a conference, a foundation, and a community of people who share some of Martin Gardner’s many interests, which include recreational mathematics, puzzles, magic and skepticism."
